The best Hawks analysis around!
A big shout out to the fellas at Deadspin who named this blog the top Atlanta Hawks related blog on the web. [Full disclosure: nominations were by submission, and I submitted myself along with Impending Firestorm]
Of course, in order to receive a bump in traffic you would have to assume that there are people out there interested in the Hawks. From what I can tell, everyone who is already has their own blog. If I can get some readers of of this, then freaking sweet. There is almost no decent and critical analysis of this team. The Hawks are one of the worst franchises in the league, but this city has a great fan base for a quality basketball team / all-star caliber players. The Falcons are an excellent case-study in how to turn a franchise around (kinda), or at least how to turn a franchise from an embarassment to a respectable one.
The Hawks have some potential in their youguns, but the coaching staff / ownership hasn't shown much to make us believe they are capable of building a winning program (the Joe Johnson trade aside). We just had a train run through us at home by two of the best teams in the East, and we would probably get swept in a best-of-7 series with either of them. Talent wise we aren't that bad, but with Al Harrington likely gone at the end of the season, the front office needs to get something done to make sure this team isn't relying on our #1 draft pick next year to improve the team. Our current needs: a Point Guard, a Center, and a Leader. Maybe we can trade the #1 pick for young Magic Johnson?

I was hoping they'd get to the Hawks on Deadspin sooner or later, I've been looking for some good Hawks sites, for better or worse that's my team...hate I missed the game last night but it's great we won, I've probably watched at least 2/3 of our games on TV this year and was lucky enough to be there for the monumental Spurs upset earlier this season - nice blog btw!
If the Hawks can just reduce the constant roster churning then they have plenty of young talent and should be able to develop into a solid respectable team in a year or two. As cliche as it sounds, the best thing that they can do in order to help their team is show patience.
It's hard to teach the kids how to play without veteran leadership and solid coaching, and we've got some *really* young talent. If only we could petition to let the Hawks finish out the year in the ACC conference, they might get the experience they need.
