You Never Say Good Luck On Opening Night

Man, I watched the Bulls take apart the Heat last night. The Heat do not look very good, even though DWade is still awesome. But the Bulls are ridiculous. They could be the team to beat in the East this year. They've worked on their team for a long time, and they've put together a very nice pizza, as Bill Simmons would say. Maybe they overpaid for Ben Wallace, but the rest of their team is in a good place and maybe they want to make a run at the title the next 3 years. Can you make a run at the title without overpaying for somebody? Joe Johnson and the Hawks don't think so.

At any rate, it gives me hope. The Bulls were terrible for so long, but they stuck to a GM gameplan and put together a quality team. Last night I watched Kirk Hinrich drop jumper after jumper off easy picks; I watched Tyrus Thomas throw down some ridicuous follow up jams; I watched Ben Wallace grab a violent rebound, then nail Luol Deng on an outlet pass- who promptly converted an easy dunk for 2. This is a team. And we are not that far away from being a team. We've got cap space- we are one big star and one more diaper dandy away from being the Bulls of this year. The playoffs are a long shot this year, but being a contender next year is possible if we make some key personnel moves. Gotta keep hope alive in the Highlight Factory.
