Credit Where It's Due

The Hawks just lost 3 tough games. The Phoenix game was awesome- the closest thing to an actual Highlight Factory I've seen this season. Josh Smith was hampered by some weak fouls early on, but the Hawks did their best to put on a show. Kevin Cott lets us know that Atlanta fans are weak, so extra credit to the team for trying as hard as they did with no home support.

Playing the 2 best teams in the league is tough. Especially when you have to play them back-to-back. Especially when the second game is on the road. Especially when you left it all on the court in the first game. I had no expectations for the Dallas game, and the Hawks did an okay job. They never had a chance, but were they ever expected to? I will never understand the scheduling that allows things like this to happen.

Last night the Hawks saw NOOCH at their best- Chris Paul had a fantastic Point Guard game, getting his 24 with 14 in the 4th quarter while handing out 13 assists along the way. Marvin Williams may be great (and I loved watching him block a Chris Paul layup), but man would the Hawks be better with Paul. Josh Smith and Marvin Williams were out there together a lot last night, and NOOCH pulled down 8 offensive rebounds in the first quarter alone. The Hawks played better offense in the game but they took 5 fewer shots and about 20 fewer free throws. The officiating wasn't great but it wasn't horrible (the first half was all I saw). The Hornets are actually a pretty good team when everybody is clicking (and man were they clicking last night). I can totally see these 2 teams meeting in the finals 3 years from now. That would be pretty sweet.

The Rambling...
I love Marvin Williams' game when he's on. I despise Speedy Claxton's game. Maybe Speedy is hurt, but he is not helping much out there. He has no idea what he wants to do with the ball when he gets it, and even when he does make a play he never looks like he's in the flow of the game. It's hard to describe, other than to say I don't like his game. Where was Shelden Williams last night? He has hardly been the defensive presence I thought he would be, although he is pretty good at making layups when a missed shot bounces directly to him.
When Josh 2 and Sexual Healing are playing well on offense, Kid Dy-no-mite looks even better. 9 assists last night and an effortless 27 points.

I would trade Speedy for a 2nd rounder at this point.

Our whole problem is that we have an average roster made by a bad GM and run by a horrible (based on how he's using his talent) coach.
