Now That's a Little More Like It

Head over to DraftExpress and show some love for some decent news. So The Atlanta Hawks might trade down 3 spots and send Brandon Roy to Houston for Luther Head and the #8 picks, Shelden Williams. Getting Head along with Shelden Williams for a #5 pick seems okay, and should always take Head if you can get Head.

Okay, so our forward line would be Zaza Pachulia, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams and Shelden Williams (and we have no center). Even if we go small, only 3 of those guys can be on the floor. Maybe our plan is Shelden at center, with Pachulia / Smith as our front line. I guess we've seen this spring that a dominant center is not a necessary component for winning in the NBA playoffs. Phoenix almost won the dang thing with little Boris Diaw as a center.

Whatever plan Billy Knight has in store, surely Al Harrington is not a part of it. Maybe Harrington and Head for Iverson? We could probably get Iverson straight up in the sign and trade, with Head as the first backup taking over for the Lue / Stoudamire / Ivey combination. Nobody in that trio offers anything that Luther doesn't.

This trade makes sense in that it is not a bad move, but I'm not sure it's the best move for the Hawks. Maybe it is, since I'm not an NBA GM. But I would bet that's one thing I will have in common with Billy Knight 12 months from now.
