I want Sexual Healing

If you didn't hear, Marvin "Sexual Healing" Williams broke *his* dang hand today, y'all. He should be out 6 - 8 weeks, so if we can get 10 wins while he's out that would be decent. No cracks about our depth at forward, please- Marvin needs to be a strong contributor to this team, and he was going to start. Who takes over- Childress? Does Shelden step in? Start Wright and Dr. Z? It sucks. This team needs to be healthy to have a chance. I will leave you with the words of Marvin's namesake:
Baby I got sick this morning

A sea was storming inside of me

Baby I think I'm capsizing

The waves are rising and rising

And when I get that feeling

I want Sexual Healing

Sexual Healing is good for me

Makes me feel so fine, it's such a rush

Helps to relieve the mind, and it's good for us

Sexual Healing, baby, is good for me

Sexual Healing is something that's good for me

Preseason Coverage: Hawks vs. Rockets

Weird, a guy we probably could have gotten in a draft day trade, in addition to Shelden Williams, has a good game against the Hawks and his team wins.

Decent stats for the Hawks' starting 5, not so decent stats for Salim The Dream (1-10). But just shout it out loud, "THE PRESEASON MEANS NOTHING."

And for some reason you won't find this recap on AJC.com.

Season Preview in 100 Words / Dime Magazine Can Bite Me

So some dude claiming to be from Dime Magazine sent me an email a couple of months back asking if I would write a season preview for the Hawks, in 100 words or less. No problem, I say, and crank out a nice little ditty. Well, the October issue rolls around and they release the previews online: the article.

Congrats to Chase Kuech over at Impending Firestorm for being given the honors, even if he has slipped in his Hawks coverage a little as of late. I tell ya Chase, these NBA Blogger groups are like the freaking mob.

For those of you who give a rat's ass, here was what I wrote:
The Hawks are primed to feature their young talent this year, assuming overrated Al Harrington is gone- a deal was in the works as of publication. With the Joshes (the smart one and the dunking one), the Williamses (the one Billy Knight took instead of Chris Paul and the one Knight took about 10 spots too high in the draft), Speedy Claxton taking over at point and Joe "Kid Dy-no-mite" Johnson running the team, get ready for a lot of 111-109 games. This team gets better every week and the East is weak, so the playoffs aren't out of question.

Preseason has begun and the Hawks are looking good, although if they were looking bad I would be constantly reminding you that the preseason means absolutely nothing. Good to see some intensity from Atlanta's Air Force. We need a stronger presence, something to close out those games against the weaker teams in the league that we seem to have trouble with. We play the best of the best as tough as any of 'em, it's just the lame-o's that give us problems.
