Raptors - Hawks Preview

Head on over to RaptorsHQ.com to check out a little pre-game conversation I had with Adam. I answered a few questions for his site, but I couldn't get my act together enough to hit him back with questions of my own. I predicted a 94-86 win for the Hawks, who should feel embarrassed to have lost so poorly to the Bucks the other night (even though it was the 2nd night of a back-to-back). The Raptors have had the Hawks' number for quite some time, but I feel like the team is ready to bounce back with a big win.

Hawks Blogger Night

Unfortunately I couldn't make Blogger Night at Philips Arena last night, so I was not present to the beatdown the Hawks gave to the Nuggets (on the second away game of a back-to-back). However, I had a very good reason (see above). I would have taken a picture with the game on TV in the background, except that IT WASN'T ON TV. Weak.

A Do-Over? Is This 2nd Grade? WTF?!!!

Unbelievable.

The Hawks will replay the last 51.9 seconds of their game against the Miami Heat. In a slightly new twist, Hawks' scoring officials are bearing the brunt of the blame for incorrectly assigning a foul to Shaq, who later fouled out. Although a far more detailed breakdown is necessary, this still seems extraordinarily weak. The Heat did not appear to have a problem when Shaq fouled out, although the Stern says in the AJC article that the scoring crew "failed to respond effectively when the members of the statistician's crew noticed the mistake."

Can this franchise sink any lower? Would this have happened if the Heat had won? I doubt it. If it comes out that Atlanta personnel knowingly allowed the error to go uncorrected, people should be fired. Mistakes can be tolerated, but dishonesty should not be tolerated.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest this comes down to some more Dwyane Wade free throws.

Did I mention:
Sweet Jesus, I Hate Playing the Miami Heat.

Mike Conley Era Begins

Mike Conley has been officially named the starter for the Memphis Grizzlies, so Atlanta fans get another chance to play "what could have been." Damon Stoudamire got bumped to the #3 point guard, and Billy Knight immediately offered him a a 3 year, $17 million deal.

Don't get me wrong, I think Horford over Conley was the right call (very close, though). However, that might have something to do with the fact that Conley has hardly played at all this season. If he starts putting up double digit assist numbers, I'm going to start complaining about Acie Law.
